Mangaluru: Mangalorean girl Diya Ravi Kumar will be representing India in the first edition of the International Pre-Teen of the Year / Asia Pacific Prince & Princess 2018, which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The pageant, commencing from June 27 aims to promote cultural exchange and friendship with a compassionate heart among young kids while giving them a platform to exhibit their talent internationally. The Grand Finale will be held on July 6 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Born to Ravi Kumar and Vani Ravikumar, 13-year-old Diya is pursuing her education at Yenepoya School in the city and aspires to be a model cum fashion designer someday.
In an exclusive interview to Newskarnataka Diya has expressed her views.
NK: Can you brief us about the competition?
Diya: It’s an International competition. After being selected as International Pre-Teen Miss Karnataka, 2018, I am representing India for the first edition of the International Pre-Teen of the Year / Asia Pacific Prince & Princess 2018. which will be held in Bangkok. The competition includes different rounds like talent round, national costume round swimsuit round, funky round etc before the grand finale on July 6.
NK: How did you come to know about this competition?
Diya: I came to know about the event through Facebook and applied for it. I was asked to attend the auditions in Mumbai and was selected to represent India under the Pre-Teen category(12-15 years).
NK: What are the preparations that you have done for the competition?
Diya: I have been groomed by experts. I have taken mind therapy session and counseling to attend this competition.
NK: How will you manage studies and this competition?
Diya: Once I am back from the competition I will make up for the lost period. My school teacher will also hold special classes. With the support of parents and teachers, I will be able to catch up with my studies.
NK: What factors according to you have brought you to this level in the competition?
Diya: My height, communication skills, and my talent played an important role in my selection.
NK: What is your ambition?
Diya: I want to do fashion designing and also a model and this has served as a stepping stone.
