‘World Theatre Day-2014’ conducted at Mandd Sobhann in city

Mangalore, Mar 28: Kalakul repertory of Mandd Sobhann conducted ‘World Theatre Day-2014’ on Thursday, March 27, at Mandd Sobhann, here in the city.

Louis Pinto president of Mandd Sobhann, Prof Vincent Alva, Roy Castelino Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president, Vishv Konkani Kala.

Ratn Baab Eric Ozario, Christopher D’Souza, Veteran Arun Raj Rodrigues were present on the dias.

Veteran Arun Raj Rodrigues welcomed the guests on to the dias and a floral welcome was given to the guests.

‘Mr Jesus’ and ‘Jezu Bhonvarichyo Sthriyo’ two plays written by Arun Raj Rodrigues were released here. Roy Castelino made the honour of releasing the book.

After the book releasem, prof Vincent Alva gave a talk on ‘Konkani Natak Vishin Vichar Mandan’. He mentioned some of the drawbacks of Konkani.

He said, “I do not have much knowledge about the theatre, but I certain do have the knowledge about what is going on the stage, the sounds, the lightings and the acting. I know all these things from my childhood where I have acted in almost 20 plays under the guidance of Udyavara  Madhavacharya.”

“If you want to become an actor you have to be a human first. When we talk about a play, if a person writes, acts and says something, that does not mean the play is perfect. To make the play perfect you must put yourself in it, you should be fully involved in it. We act from the day we are born till the day we die.” he said

He mentioned seven types of drama’s we do in our live. Baby, you cry, when you go to school, you become a lover boy, then you become a soldier, philosopher, old man and again a baby.

He mentioned Arun Raj and Christopher the main persons behind the plays, dramas, the acts.

He said, “I feel really sad that the Konkani is dying, it is been put aside. It should not happen. Audience is must required and they are the people who are going to promote Konkani.”

Roy Castelino said that he would give his best to support the Konkani language and get the funds from the Government to develop Konkani.

Christopher D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Daru Vamanjoor compered the ceremony.

Vitory Karkol, Litterateur Edi Netto, Gladys and others were present during the function.
