Mangaluru: Konkani Music talent from across the globe will compete for the crowns on offer in various categories at the grand finale of the 1st edition of the World Konkani Music Awards to be held on 07 February 2020 at the Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Bambolim, Goa. The Hon. CM of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant has will be the Chief Guest at the event.

The World Konkani Music Awards (WKMA) is powered by Transformatrix LLP 603, Gateway Plaza, Hiranandani, Powai, Mumbai 400076 and hosted in association with Mr. Eric Alexander Ozario, the Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, World’s Premier Konkani Cultural Organization.

This was announced at a press conference in the city here yesterday. Present at the Press Conference were Mr. Eric Ozario (Gurkar – Mandd Sobhan), Mr. Allan Vaz (Founder WKMA), Mr. Alan Castelino (Co-Founder Transformatrix and Promoter WKMA), and Mr. Dolphy Mascarenhas (Co-Founder Transformatrix and Promoter WKMA)

The WKMA have been conceptualized on the lines of international competitions with the objective to take Konkani music across the world. The aim of this event is to offer a platform that celebrates and showcases genuine Konkani music talent across the globe; facilitate young talent to challenge themselves, figure out their dreams and find opportunities; create an award show that aims to put Konkani music on the Global map; organize a Talent hunt for the most promising Konkani singer & felicitate the evergreen legends; and aim at creating the ultimate honor in Konkani Music – an equivalent to the Grammys.

WKMA are awards exclusive to the Konkani Music Fraternity and are backed by an advisory panel of well-known personalities. The esteemed panel of jury includes:

• Hemaa Sardesai (International Diva, Celebrity judge, and Social Activist); 
• Nirmika Singh (Editor of Rolling Stones magazine, songwriter and critic); 
• Atul Churamani (MD – Turnkey Music & Publishing and has worked with music labels like CBS Gramophone Records and Tapes (I) Ltd., Magnasound India Ltd, Virgin Records, and Saregama India Ltd.) 
• Other famous personalities associated with the event are Merlin D’Souza (Music Director), Toby Fernandes (Choreographer), Lorna Cordeiro (Celebrity Performer).

WKMA has received 140+ entries on its website www.wkma.co.in across the following categories:

Nominees are being shortlisted by the judges.
