Bantwal: Leena Britto has finally taken charge as the Chief Officer of the Bantwal TMC, a post which was lying vacant since the past two and a half months.

The post was unoccupied ever since AV Ganesh the chief officer on deputation retired recently. He was in fact appointed in place of RV Jattanna who was suspended on charges of violation of election code of conduct.

Since the past two and a half months  Mattadi, the Shahari Rozar Project Officer had taken up the additional charge of Chief Officer. In the meantime, there was hectic behind the scene lobbying for the post which has now gone to Leena Britto.

With her taking charge, all the three top posts in Bantwal TMC have gone to women. Already the TMC President and Vice President’s posts are occupied by women. Another noteworthy aspect is that the three women present a splendid case of communal harmony too as they belong to different religions and work together in unison. If TMC Chief Vasanthi Chandappa is a Hindu, Vice President Yasmin Hamad is a Muslim and Leena Britto, the new TMC Chief Officer a Christian.

Leena Britto who has the experience of serving as chief officer in Honnavar, Moodbidri, Moodigere and other places, was last serving Moodigere Town Panchayat before being transferred to Bantwal.
