Mangalore: A lady allegedly slapped a traffic policewoman at the Hampankatta junction here on Thursday July 24.

Reportedly a lady who was riding a two-wheeler towards Falnir bumped into an Omni car moving from the Central railway station side.

It was a minor accident; however the policewoman allotted at the junction, said to be PSI of Kadri traffic police came to the rescue.

She then, accordingly, let the Omni car move on and made lady to stay back as she was not wearing a helmet.

However the lady got furious at this and busted the policewoman stating that it was not her fault, but the Omni driver’s. After a brief argument, the lady lost her temper and slapped the lady policewoman.

Seeing this, a crowd immediately gathered at the spot. More policewomen also arrived and tried to drag away the lady. The crowd however, came to her support and protested against the police.

Claiming that the cop has been unjust towards her, the lady did not leave the spot. Looking at this chaos other passersby came in support of the lady and the situation threatened to get out of hand, the police resorted to mild lathi charge and dispersed the mob.

The woman was finally taken to the police station. Sources said that she ‘escaped’ from the police station after a case was filed.
