Woman files dowry harassment, life threat complaint against husband

Bantwal: A woman who was married off only one-and-half-year ago has registered a case of dowry harassment and life threat, against her husband at Bantwal Rural Police Station.

The accused is identified as Badruddin, son of Abdul Khader, a resident of Sajipanadu here. He is said to be employed in a jewellery outlet in Dubai.

According to sources, Badruddin had married a woman hailing from Deralakatte in 2014. As per his parents’ demands, gold weighing 100 sovereign and Rs 10 lakh was given in dowry. Though all was well in the beginning, the woman has complained that Badruddin started harassing her physically as well as mentally later on and also allegedly posed her life joining hands with her in-laws.

The woman in her complaint has stated that though he took her to Dubai after marriage, he got her back to his native and flew back to Dubai alone, keeping her and her family in dark.

She has alleged that Badruddin is now contemplating to get settled in Dubai and never visit her.

The police have initiated a probe.
