Mangaluru: In what seems to be an addition to the repeated untoward incidents in the city, a woman and her friend who were travelling in a car were allegedly attacked by 5 miscreants who behaved rudely and molested the woman. This incident occurred in Adyapadi, late on Friday night, February 9.

According to a senior police officer, the woman and her male friend were in a stationary car on the side of the road. Five drunken youth arrived at the scene on their bikes and found the stationary car suspicious. The police source said that in their curiosity, the five men went to investigate the car. At that very moment, the driver of the car tried to drive the car away and accidentally hit one of the bikes. Enraged by this, the men reportedly followed the car on their bikes in order to confront the car’s occupants.

The police source said that when the car finally came to a stop, the men got into a heated verbal argument with the occupants of the car and even demanded that they be compensated for the damages. The occupants then called their friends, who were at a birthday party, to their location. Upon their arrival, the friends allegedly, attacked the five men.

The car accident is said to have happened as the car occupants were fleeing after the altercation.

DCP for Law and Order, Hanumantharaya has confirmed that the case is not that of moral or immoral policing.

The Bajpe Police have registered cases from both sides and the investigation is on.

The woman and her male friend are employees of the Mangalore International Airport.
