Mangaluru: White Doves, an NGO taking care of over 120 destitutes in the city, will stage a mega drama on Sunday, to raise money for the 200-bedded psychiatric nursing home, which will come up in Maroli.
Corrine Rasquinha, founder president of White Doves told reporters here, that Mangaluru Diocese Bishop Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza had donated 49 cents of land in Maroli, for the psychiatric nursing home, in recognition to their service towards the distitutes.
To raise money for the construction of a nursing home, Kannada drama ‘Anthyadhinda Aaramba’ will be staged for the first time on a 212-foot stage at Padua High School Ground on Sunday at 6pm.
The play will see 125 actors on the stage, which is apt on the Lenten season. Mangaluru South MLA J.R Lobo, Fr Anthony Serrao among others will be part of the event, she said.
The drama, written by Bannu Fernandes and directed by Corrine RAsquinha, is expected to draw over 6,000 people from Mangaluru and Udupi.
Since its inception in 1996, White Doves has rehabilitated destitutes and over 60 people were reunited by their dear ones. The NGO has also helped in construction of eight houses for the poor in the past.
