Mangalore: The Congress party released its manifesto for the Mysuru division, containing development projects tailored to the needs of the individual districts, on May 8 at the Congress Bhavan.
Speaking to reporters after releasing manifesto, District In-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai said, “Congress party’s campaigning is in full swing. People have acknowledged our developmental works and we have received favourable response from the voters.”
“The tireless developmental work done by the 7 Congress MLAs from this district will be the main reason for our victory. We have projected our sincere achievements in development whereas the BJP is spreading false propaganda against us. It looks as if they have decided to only campaign on the basis of lies. BJP feels that by lying they can win”, he alleged.
Commenting on the secular nature of the party, Rai said, “Congress is a party that aspires for peace and harmony in the society whereas the opposition is trying to divide people on the basis of religion. The people have to be prudent and defeat the communal forces.”
Refuting the claims of BJP that women were not safe in Karnataka, Rai alleged, “They (BJP) are the ones who are harassing the women and Dalits. Journalists are not allowed to speak openly. An environment of fear has been created. No Congress members were involved in most of the incidents of killing that happened in the state. It’s the work of communal forces and they need to be given a befitting answer.”
Appealing to the electorate to vote for the Congress candidates, Rai said, “We ask for votes on the basis of the development achieved in the last 5 years by our government.” Further responding to a query on the absence of star campaigners, he said, “We do not need star campaigners to promote our work.”
KPCC Mysuru Division Convenor and In-charge of Mangaluru U B Venkatesh, District Congress President Harish Kumar, Mayor Bashkar Moily, Kanachur Monu, Baby Kunder, Kodijal Ibrahim and Shani Molu were present.
