Mangalore: Kusumavathi, mother of Sowjanya who was brutally raped and murdered at Pangala near Dharmasthala in October 2012, has clarified that  her family was not supporting any political party in the upcoming Parliamentary elections.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday April 15, she said various political parties and organisations irrespective of caste or creed had backed the pro-Sowjanya agitation. “We are thankful to all of them and therefore will not support any particular party,” she added.

“That pro-Sowjanya activist Mahesh Shetty Timarody is supporting BJP, is his personal matter and it has nothing to do with our agitation.  Some organisations by putting our photos in their hand bills are claiming that we are supporting  some party. But we are not supporting any party and such attempts to mislead voters must stop,” she said.

Vittal Gowda, uncle of Sowjanya was also present.
