Mangaluru: “Use your sense before cast your vote. Vote for those who work for your constituency and those who are capable of addressing your issues in the Parliament”, said Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader on Thursday, April 11.

Speaking to reporters at the district Congress office, Khader said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party has been seeking votes by using the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, Modi will not come to address the local problems. It is the responsibility of the MP who represents our constituency to address our problems. Hence, people should cast their vote to coalition candidate Mithun Rai”, he said.

Hitting out at the BJP leaders who claim that Modi has taken stringent action against terrorism in our country Khader said, “If Modi had taken serious action against terrorists, how come an RSS leader was shot dead at Kashmir by some miscreants two days ago? BJP has been spreading false propaganda in order to gain votes”, he alleged.

While reporters sought his response over state government’s decision to withdraw 142 cases pertaining to heinous crime, Khader clarified that the coalition government did not take the decision of withdrawing cases. “No such decision was taken after the coalition government came to existence. However, I will speak with the state home minister in this regard. I am sure that though the previous Congress government might have taken such a decision, the guidelines may not have been violated”, he opined.

Responding to the statement by BJP leader Malavika that the party came into power in the year 2014 since the UPA government was corrupt, Khader said, “Congress will never forgive anybody who indulges in corruption. Our party has never shown sympathy for the law offenders”, he clarified.

When asked whether Congress party had developed a soft corner for Hinduism in the recent days citing that its candidate Mithun Rai chants the Hanuman Chalisa mantra while participating in election campaigns, Khader said,”Congress supports the Hinduism which is propagated by Swami Vivekananda or Narayana Guru among others. It always has been against extremist Hinduism which propagates violence in the name of religion. Mithun Rai is a Hindu and he has been chanting Hanuman Chalisa mantra right from his childhood. There is no hidden agenda in it”, he justified.

MLC Hareesh Kumar, former MLA K Abhayachandra Jain and leaders Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Ibrahim Kodijal among others were present.
