Mangalore : The Visual Media Journalists Association of Dakshina Kannada district have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urging him to drop all charges against journalist Naveen Soorinje and TV cameraman Sharan in connection with the Morning Mist home stay attack.A delegation of the Association met the Chief Minister here on May 22, Wednesday.

The memorandum stated that if Soorinje is already released on a bail from High Court, Sharan is still in judicial custody and requested that all cases be dropped against the two who had only been to the  homestay on the day of the attack for reporting.Even Vijaykumar, one of the victims of the homestay attack, had made this aspect clear while submitting before the court during the hearing of the bail petition of Naveen  Soorinje some time back, the memorandum pointed out.

Stating that the two have been framed with the same charges leveled against other accused in the case, the Association said the erstwhile BJP government had failed to fulfill its promise of dropping all charges against the two. The memorandum has further urged the CM to look into the case yet again and drop charges against Soorinje as well as Sharan and at the same time initiate action against the police officials responsible for their arrest.
