Mangaluru: Vinesh Shetty, an accomplice of Chota Rajan and a wanted criminal was apprehended by the Konaje police from Mumbai nearly two years after he jumped bail and has been on the run since.

Vinesh who hails from Shirva has several cases against him in the city as well as in Mumbai, Davangere, Pune and Hyderabad for his alleged involvements in murder, attempt to murder, illegal possession of arms as also a money laundering case.

A warrant had been issued against him after he jumped bail in 2015 in a case related to the double murder of black stone quarry owner Venugopal Nayak and his driver Santhosh in Mudipu in 2003.

Vinesh allegedly has been associated with underworld goons like Chota Rajan, Chota Shakeel and Hemanth Poojary as well.

A team led by Konaje inspector Ashok and SI Sukumar carried out his arrest.
