Belthangady : Villagers of Grama No. 12  in Belthangady taluk  who are opposing the  gas pipeline laying works, have submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar  stating  they are against the project which would affect their fertile agricultural lands.

The memorandum pointed out that they were unable to cultivate in much of their agricultural lands due to the laying of pipelines. They even alleged that the officials of the departments concerned who had come for a survey had threatened to even demolish their houses  if they do not stay away.

Pointing out that petrol thefts were already reported from the pipelines passing through the lands, the villagers said in case  thefts  occur from gas pipelines too , then it may lead to mass destruction.

They alleged that the officials have marked their RTC saying the land would be considered industrial  from December 2012 and urged the Tahsildar to  take steps to  revoke this decision of making their land as industrial.
