Mangaluru: “A person may be a Hindu or a Muslim but if they die in a communal riot, it is a loss to their family. Hence, let us live as human beings by giving up all communal hatred”, urges a Muslim youth in a video which went viral on social media.

The 30-minute video in the Tulu language urging for communal harmony in the district, has been viewed over 43 K times within 7 hours of it being uploaded.

Many people have appreciated this video for its message on communal harmony among Hindus, Muslims and Christians in the district.

In the video, the youth pleads for harmony and expresses his agony over losing his brother, saying, “Four months ago I lost my brother in a tragedy. But, it is still not clear whether it is a murder or a natural death and we haven’t yet received the postmortem report. Our family hasn’t recovered from this tragedy.”

He also says, “After I saw Deepak’s mother, suffering after losing her son, I remembered my own mother. Let us not allow such untoward incidents to repeat in Mangaluru.”

‘A good Hindu or Muslim will never get into violence’

In the video, the youth also continues to say that those who provoke communal violence are always safe. But it is the breadwinners of the families who lose their lives. The death has taken those who managed their families by working day and night. He also said that if people die in the name of religion, it is a loss to the families and not religion. “People who come to condole the death, will disappear after a few days. Let us make a pledge to lead a peaceful life with love and harmony”, he pleads.
