Mangaluru: “Gai bachegi desh bachega, gai kategi desh katega” (If a cow is saved the nation is saved, if a cow is slaughtered the nation will be slaughtered) said VHP vice-president and in-charge of south Gujarat, Hukum Chand Sawla addressing a gathering of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal (BD) and several like-minded organizations.

Hukum Chand Sawla speaking after a rally against cow slaughter held on Monday July 13, at Nehru Maidan said, “Even the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar made cow slaughter a crime punishable by death in order to present a united Hindu-Muslim front while facing the British siege Delhi, then why is the State government acting ignorant”, he added.

Bringing up facts Sawla said that at present, meat is exported to 44 nations from India, in the year 2013-14 alone, 20 lakhs tons of meat was exported, around 63000 registered slaughter houses regulate while the illegal ones are getting rampant. However when it comes to dairy and milk there is only 1 cow for every 10 Indians in the country”, he informed.

Taking it further, Sawla alleged that even cow dung is imported from foreign countries because the state government ministers want to make commission out of it. Around 1500 tons of cow dung is imported each year, he said.

Concluding his speech, Sawla on poetical note said “Ravaan kaun hai? yeh jo gol topiwala hai, jiski daadi bakre jaisi hai, jo bade bhai ka kurta aur chote bhai ka pyjama phehenta hai, jiski chappal chori ki hai, woh aaj ka Ravaan hai” (he criticized the Muslim community and held them responsible for the issues in the society by calling them Ravaan metaphorically).

Local VHP leaders Dr P Ananthkrishna Bhat and Kateel Dinesh Pai also addressed the audience.

VHP Karnataka Zone President M.B. Puranik, Bajrang Dal Sharan Pumpwell, VHP Leader Jagadish Shenava, Premelata Achar, Gopal Kuttar, Jitendra Kotari and several others were present with the aim to create awareness among the people of the district about the inhumanity of cow slaughter and to shield Hinduism. Also “gau mata” pooja (Cow worship) was performed before the stage programme.
