Mangalore: The president of VHP Karnataka province, Prof. MB Puranik has urged the state government to implement the Cow slaughter Prevention Act 1964 to curb the illegal cattle trafficking in the district.

Speaking to the media, in the press meet held in the Hotel Woodlands Hall,  Prof. MB Puranik, who is also the president of the state “Go-Seva” commission, was sharing his views regarding the illegal cattle trafficking happening in the district. “In the recent days, the illegal cattle trafficking has been a concern. India is a land where a cow is respected and considered one among the God’s. Killing the cow always hurts the sentiments of the people and in the recent days the culprits have threatened the cattle owners and in-front of their eyes they have taken away the cattle, which is very shocking.”

“There are people in the rural areas who depend solely on their cattle for their daily bread and by snatching taking away their cows the miscreants are snatching their daily bread and they deserve the punishment. Hence the govt. should take strict measures to prevent the illegal cattle trafficking and punish the culprits.”

He also presented the demands that the govt. should fulfill which are as follows:

1. Rs. 50,000 compensation should be given to the cattle owners who lost their cattle.

2. The cattle owners should be permitted to own the country gun to prevent their cattle.

3. Special police force should be deployed to prevent the illegal cattle trafficking

4. “Gram-Go-Raksha-Dal” should be formed in the village level.

Dinesh Pai, Division Goraksha pramukh, Gopal Kuttar, District VHP, Mangalore, Jagadish Shenava, District VHP president were among the people present at the occasion.
