Mangaluru: Hindu activists led by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged a protest in the City, in response to the suicide of a minor girl in Kanyana Village in Kaniyooru.

VHP activists alleged the death was the result of “love jihad” and called for an independent investigation.

It can be recalled that a class ten student was found hanging in the rented house where she and her family lived in Kanyana village’s Kaniyooru on Wednesday May 4.

Her father Sanjeeva accused Shahul Hamid alias Kutta of abetting her suicide in his complaint. Police arrested Kutta the very next day, based on the complaint.
