Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal (BD) activists attempted to storm into B.M. Basha’s residence, the son of litterateur and former MLA Idinabba from Ullal. The protestors were arrested after Police stopped them from entering.

VHP and BD activists began an awareness campaign on NH 66 at Ullal on Wednesday August 11 and they called out on people to boycott the family of former MLA Idinabba. They also accused of Love Jihad incidents. They displayed placards calling for the ban on terrorism and the promotion of Love Jihad.

A public awareness campaign against Love Jihad was planned by Hindu activists from Talapady, Kotekar, Beeri, Thokkottu, Mudipu, Netravati river area, Kallapu, Konaje, and other neighbouring areas. Later, it is alleged that under the guidance of VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell, they attempted to forcibly enter the home of B.M. Basha.

Recently, National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided and arrested B.M. Basha’s son for his involvement with extremists.

Sources state that a female member of the house had travelled to Syria after making contact with extremist groups. It is suspected that the NIA has also seized the passport of a female family member who allegedly converted to Islam from Hinduism and has links with the groups.
