Mangaluru: The Puttur divisions of VHP and Bajrang Dal have threatened to hold severe protests if the prime accused in the recent attempted rape case in Dharmasthala Police Station limits, is not arrested by Monday, February 12.

Addressing a press meet on February 8, Bhaskar Dharmasthala of the Bajrang Dal said that even though the parents of the girl had filed a case of attempted rape on their daughter, the Dharamasthala Police had failed to arrest the prime accused in the case. “Despite the police having registered the case, the accused remains scotfree”, he said.

“The incident occurred on January 31 in Kalmanja, when the girl was returning home after school. Rijesh, who was seated in the passengers’ seat of an auto, attempted to sexually assault the girl. The police immediately arrested the driver of the auto who had ferried Rijesh to the place where the incident occurred. The main accused is still out there”, he explained.

He went on to warn that if the accused is not arrested by February 12, the VHP and Bajrang Dal would protest in the Belthangady Taluk.

Bujanga Kulal, Praveen Kuthar and others were present.
