Mangalore: Foreseeing the laying of foundation stone for the proposed Yetthinahole project, various organizations joined together to oppose the plan in the city holding black flags and placards in their hands in front of the Town Hall here on Friday January 31.

The protest which was organized under the initiative of Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya, was participated by over 300 members from other organizations such as Karavali Yuva Sinchana, Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi, Malnad Youth Association, Nethravathi Nadi Tiruvu Yojane Virodhi Horata Samithi , Aam Aadmi party, Jamate Islam and many such organization including college students. The agitators formed a human chain and stood silently against the proposed tributary of River Nethravathi.

Addressing the agitators, the convenor of Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya said that the project is a conspiracy of political leaders.The human chain is just a symbol and we have protested silently, he said and warned that if the situation does not change they would intensify the protest.

The protest concluded by paying homage to Dr Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi outside the Town Hall.
