Mangaluru: Dr Shashikiran Shetty, Chairman and Managing director of All Cargo Global Logistics Ltd was conferred with prestigious state-level Vandana Award for the year 2016, on his outstanding lifetime achievements in the field of logistics and construction, by the Rotary Club of Mangaluru Central and Rotaract Club of Mangaluru City, here on April 29 at Eden Club.
Speaking after receiving the award, Shashikiran Shetty said, “I am overwhelmed and consider myself truly blessed to receive this award. There are many people in the society who do good to others and their works go unnoticed. I never chased recognition. I could grow, help and serve the needy because I am surrounded by good people, who probably work harder than me. They are more creative and supportive.”
Speaking about his early struggles he said, “My father was a social activist and my mother- a humble woman and due to two of them I grew up in a blissful environment. Had to struggle initially as jobs did not come my way that easily. I landed in Mumbai and I stayed with my uncle Prabhakar Shetty. While working in Mumbai, opportunity came to make business. I got few good friends in shipping arena, who supported me, they are still with me. And this is how it started. I believe in learning everyday.”
He also advised that we should never back out from commitments and we should understand the pain of other people.
Shashikiran Shetty, hails from Bantwal and is the founder of Al Cargo Logistics Ltd. Today, his company has grown as Global leader in integrated logistics solutions, operating in over 160 countries with more than 300 offices backed by more than 8,500 team members, with an annual income of more than One Billion US dollars.
The SKS Planet Apartments promoted by him has won many awards for quality, structural and architectural design, safety and as a best residential apartments under luxury segment.
He is also a staunch believer of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) and he actively leads the initiatives of Avashya Foundation, a NGO wing of his company which is involved in charity. He is also engaged in natural disaster relief, education, literacy campaign, health care, women empowerment, skill development and others.
On the occasion the official bulletin of the Rotary Club of Mangaluru Central, ‘Centor’ was released by the dignitaries.
On the occasion, the Rotary Club’s initiative Vidya Jyothi, a project to provide solar lighting to the needy was also announced. The Rotary Club of Mangaluru presented a cheque of Rs 60,000 to President of Puttur Rotary Club which will be used for providing solar lighting for 12 houses poor and people with low income.
