Mangauru: The recent Kambala, which took place in Vamanjoor, surely created a record with winners that emerged in just 23 hour this year. The event, which took place on the 17th of February saw an overall of 166 buffalo pairs participating in the competition.
The Kanahelage section came forward with six pairs. The winner here was Bolara Trishal Poojary while the second place was bagged by Vamanjoor Thiruvailguthu Naveen Chandra Alva B.
The Addahalage section came forth with five pairs, with the winner again being Bolar Trishal K Poojary followed by Naravi yuvraj Jain who won the second place.
Haggahiriya brought a huge number with fourteen pairs of bulls taking part in the event. Here the first prize was bagged by Nandalike Srikanth Bhat A and the second by Harekala Kaidelguthu Mithun M Rai A.
Kagga Kiriya brought 23 pairs, with the winners being Karkala Neklaje Guthu Praveem Pradeep Kotian. Then there was Negilu Hiriya which came forth with 35 pairs. Here the winner was Mijaru Praveen Barke Bhandary while the second prize was bagged by Navunda Ashrita Ishani Vishwanatha Poojary A.
And finally Negilu Kiriya with its large army of 83 bull pairs, with the winners being Vamanjoor Thiruvallu Majalumane Sanjeev Moolya A while the second prize went to Nellikaru Swastik Yuva Bandavary A
The event, which began at 9.45 AM in the morning was said to have ended at 8.50 the next day, which means the event this year didn’t take more than a day.
This serves as an inspiration for other similar events in future too, as they saw how using the latest technology can be very useful in such a race.
