Mangaluru: Mangaluru MLA U T Khader, on Monday, April 13, asked the residents of Chembugudde to voluntarily undergo testing as a COVID-19 patient visited the Chembugudde mosque multiple times before he tested positive for the disease.
Khader used the Chembugudde mosque’s mic to instruct the residents to undergo testing and to cooperate with the health department. Following this, the MLA himself underwent a COVID-19 test.
A few days ago, a person from Thokkottu, who had been to the Tablighi Jamaat meet in New Delhi, tested positive for COVID-19. As he visited the Chembugudde mosque multiple times before getting admitted to the hospital, the district administration has instructed the health department to test the residents of the area as a precautionary measure and to ensure that no other people get infected.
Meanwhile, there have been no new COVID-19 cases reported from the Dakshina Kannada district for the ninth day straight.
