
Mangaluru: In preparation of the Episcopal ordination of Msgr. Peter Paul Saldanha, U T Khader Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister convened a meeting for all officers August 25 at the Rosario Cultural Hall.
Former bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza, Apostolic Administrator and Chairperson of the Episcopal ordination celebrations, welcomed the officers and gave them an overview of the historical programme to be held on September 15 at the premises of the Rosario Cathedral.
The coordinator, M P Noronha explained the relevance of the event and the role of a Bishop in the Catholic Church and society.
Speaking at the meeting, former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo explained how the district administration can help in making this event a great success.
Khader discussed with the concerned officers of various departments such as law and order, traffic, Mangaluru Corporation, MESCOM, and other connected officers, regarding the programme and ordered the entire department to give full support. He also requested the concerned officers to finish their work by 10 September. Officers of important departments like traffic, law and order explained their plan and requested the cooperation of the local organizing committees. Khader also said that there should be cleanliness, proper supply of water and electricity and arrangements for transportation on the day.
The local organizing committee convenors and co-conveners shared their opinions and the concerned officers agreed to cooperate whole heartedly.
J R Lobo, Baskar K, Mayor of Mangalore, Mohammud Deputy Mayor, Shashider Hegde and Lancelot Pinto were present on the dais.
Fr J B Crasta, the chief coordinator of the programme, gave a vote of thanks.
Fr Vincent Montero, Fr Rupesha Madtha, Fr Richard D’Souza, Fr Vijay Victor Lobo, Shushil Noronha, Roy Castelino, Marcel Monterio, Luvi Pinto, Pius Montero and all the officers were present at the meeting.
