Use generic medicines to reduce out of pocket expenses: MLA Bangera

Belthanagadi: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Vasanth Bangera called upon the people in his constituency to avail medicines from “Jan Aushadhi Medical Stores” to reduce out of pocket expenses.

During the inaugural of generic medicine outlet named “Anugraha Jana Seva Nemmadi Kendra”, Bangera said, “Medicines for cancer costing Rs 15000 are available at an affordable price of Rs 2000 at these outlets.” The taluk government hospital too has an outlet of the same kind but medicines are in short-supply, he rued. He asked officials to ensure proper supplies to prevent hardships faced by common people.

Belthangadi Bishop Dr. Lawrence Mukkuzhy said the service centres providing medicines at affordable prices help in improving the health condition of those in need and asked people to avail the benefits effectively.

Senior Marketing Manager Dr. Anila representing Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI) said that anyone could come forward and open a generic store but the motive must be service-oriented and not business.

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the Jan Aushadi outlet. Zilla Panchayat Member and President of Standing Committee on Health K K Shahul Hameed presided over the function where health officials and Anugraha Educational Social Welfare Trust members were present.
