
Mangaluru: To mark the 150th year celebration of University College (Government College), a huge programme is being organised at the Open Air Theatre of Karnataka Bank, on February 6, at around 10.30 am.
Speaking about the programme on Sunday, February 2, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof P S Yadapadithaya said, “Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the programme and release the souvenir. As a special postal cover has been prepared to mark this special occasion, it will be released by Chief Postmaster General (Karnataka Circle) Charles Lobo at the event. Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, former chief minister M Veerappa Moily MLAs U T Khader, D Vedavyas Kamath, MLCs S L Bhoje Gowda, Ivan D’Souza and others will grace the occasion.”
Informing about the future programmes, Yadapadithaya said, “The construction of eight classrooms in the Dayananda Pai block, digitalisation of the library, developing an art gallery and museum in the Ravindra Kalabhavan, making the mid-day meal project more effective, construction of a modular kitchen and dining hall, establishing a Yoga therapy centre, starting a ‘Mangalore University Prasaranga’ sales complex in the college campus and others are the future projects of University College, which will materialise soon.”
