Bantwal: An elderly woman committed suicide depressed over her inability to repay her loan here on september 19 at Rai in Bantwal. The deceased has been identified as Mohini(50).

The incident came to knowledge of others, when the family members could not find her at home in the morning. After searching for a long time, they found her body at 7.30 in a Gram panchayat tank nearby.

They found the body when they checked inside an open tank. Three months back she had taken Rs 2 lakhs personal loan from some people for her daughter’s marriage. But she could not repay it. She might have taken this extreme step on this account, it is learnt.

A case has been registered at Bantwal rural police station as per the complaint filed by her son Amith Kumar.
