Mangaluru: Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary along with congress activists joined the Horekanike procession on the occasion of Ullal Uroos which commenced from Nehru Maidan on April 19.

On behalf of local Congress activists and Kudroli Lord Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, rice, fruits and other offerings were carried in procession and offered for the Uroos.

MLA, J R Lobo, H S Sairam, president of Kudroli Temple managing committee, treasurer Padmaaraj R, city corporators Lancelot Pinto, Prakash Salian, Radhakrishna, Deepak Poojary, Kavita, Shylaja, Rathikala, Nagaveni, Appi and Praveen Alva participated.

Every five years, Uroos celebrations are held at the dargah, known as the Ajmer of South India, The ceremonies, attract lakhs of visitors. People of all faiths pray at the dargah and also offer “harake” (a vow).
