Ujire doctor Dr Naveen Vishweshwaraiah to assist Naturopathy research in Australia

Belthangady: Dr Naveen Vishweshwaraiah from Bengaluru presently serving as a guest-lecturer at Ujire SDM Yoga and Natural Care College, has been chosen by the Australian government for study and research in Naturopathy.

Australian Research Council for Complimentary and Integrated Medicine is a centre for development and research of ayurveda on similar lines with India’s AYUSH. The centre in Australia has considered Sidney Varsity as International Centre for Excellence in Naturopathy Research. It has to report on how Yoga and Naturopathy can be implemented in the country, with the help of 10 experts in the field from across the world.

Hence, the centre after consultation, shortlisted 40 candidates out which 10 made to the final list. Dr Naveen is one among the ten.  

Dr Naveen from Kalkuni in Mandya, currently residing in Bengaluru is the first Indian to get selected for the research.

He had received a Full Fred Academic fellowship from the US government in 1997. At the age of 24, he completed his studies on Radiology at Florida varsity. His dream to secure a PhD in India bought him back to his motherland. He became the first Indian to secure a PhD in Naturopathy and Yoga. His efforts to start PhD programme at S Vyasa varsity in Bengaluru is commendable. He has also started a laboratory in Neuroscience in the college.

Dr Naveen denied an offer from Harvard Medical School in America in 2005, and instead opted to be a part of a research in Yoga and Neuroscience through AYUSH department of Indian Council of Medical Research.

He has played an effective role in procuring equipments consisting 128 channels for Neuroscience Research to enable MRI and Brain scan in India. He has been an advisor for ten PhD students and has published more than 50 books of research.
