Bantwal: Two youths from Delhi drowned when they ventured to swim in the Netravati river here on Sunday April 24.
Anaas (18) and Asmani (21) are the deceased.

According to the police, the duo, who were employed in a furniture shop in the town, went to the river on Sunday afternoon as it was a holiday.

According to eyewitnesses, the duo along with five other friends ventured into the water puddles. As they did not know swimming, they drowned. The efforts made to rescue them by the other five friends and the locals went in vain.

The local residents also informed fire personnel who allegedly did not come to the rescue of the duo. However, the bodies were retrieved by the locals and were sent to Government hospital in Bantwal for post-mortem.
