Ullal: A person died after he accidently touched a live electrical wire at Melangady here on Tuesday June 17 night. In the incident another person in a bid to save him suffered gruesome injuries..

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Rashid, a native of Ullal Kodi. Jaleel, a resident of Manjanady,  was injured in the incident.

Reportedly Rashid resided in a rented house at Melangady ever since his marriage. On Tuesday night, when it started raining, water started flowing through a pipe from the terrace on the first floor of the house. In order to let the water out through a plastic pipe, Rashid along with his landlord’s relative Jaleel went to the terrace. As he was bending down over the terrace to fix the plastic on the pipe, he lost balance and fell on the wire of an electric pole.

Jaleel at once pulled him up, but Rashid had already succumbed to injuries by then. Jaleel in a bid to save Rashid sustained grave injuries and was admitted to hospital.

Rashid is survived by his parents, wife and three children.
