Kasaragod: In a tragic accident, two people were killed and six others injured when a car went out of control and hit an electric pole on the National Highway near Kunjathur at Manjeshwar on the wee hours of Thursday.

The deceased are identified as Farhan from Kunjathur and Munsar from Uppala.
Six others who were seriously injured were shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.
According to sources, the students were on their way for an excursion from Mangaluru to Uppala. At around 1:30 am, the car they were travelling went out of control and hit an electric pole in front of Kunjathur Mosque hall.
The car was barely recognisable as it was completely damaged.
The locals removed the passengers stuck in the car with great difficulty and shifted them to hospital. Farhan and Munsar succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
All the passengers in the car are reportedly students. Munsar was pursuing his final year degree at a private college in Mangaluru.
Manjeshwar police have registered a case.
