Belthangady: Two people drowned in a slush filled lake in Nidgal, Gudipalla in Ujire while trying to repair a water pump installed for lifting water, on Sunday, October 23.

Navale Ramachandra Hebbar, aged 75 of Amabalebetty and Sandhya aged 35 are the deceased.

They were trying to check the foot valve of the pump in the lake but unfortunately slipped. They could not escape from the lake filled with slush and eventually died.

The deceased Hebbar was the temple head priest at Lokanatheshwar temple in Nidgal while Sandhya was working in the farm land of Hebbar.

Belthangady Police registered a case after the incident.
