Two communities pledge to maintain peace after miscreants pelt stones

Mangaluru: This time a novel example was set by two communities in Ullal, where several communal incidents have taken place earlier. Two communities condemned the incident to disrupt peace in the region, after two miscreants pelted stones at a religious building in Ullal on the occasion of Tulsi Habba and offered prayers together.
Miscreants continued with thier attempt to create tension among the two communities on Monday. Reportedly two men who came on a  bike allegedly pelted stones at the Koragajja Seva Samiti building in Thokkottu and broke the window glasses.

Soon local religious heads of two communities who arrived to the place expressed great solidarity to not let this incident disrupt peace in the region instead offered prayers together leaving God himself to punish the culprits.

On November 23, a large crowd was gathered near Thokkottu on the occasion of Tulsi Habba. Two bike-borne men pelted stones at the building creating tension for a while among the public. Ullal police rushed immediately after they received information about the incident and urged public to maintain peace. Even religious heads of both the communities gathered at the spot. As already several communal incidents in the Ullal area earlier had disrupted normal life affecting public and the merchants, they decided not to file any complaint. Chandrahas Ullal, Bhagwan Das, Bharath along with Ullal muncipal member Farooq U H and local religious leaders unitedly offered prayers at Koragajja Seva Samiti.

They took a pledge that the whoever attempts to disturb peace in the region would be punished by almighty. Also they prayed that people from different communities in the region live in harmony and continue to do the same in future not letting anti-social elements to divide society.

ACP Kalyan Shetty, Ullal inspector Savithra Teja and senior officials were present at the spot.
