Kundapur : Two autorickshaw drivers named Vinod and Pradeep hailing from the Vandse Janatha Colony, have been accused of sexually abusing two young girls from Noojadi after promising to marry them.
It is learnt, the duo had been in touch with the two girls aged 18 and 16 since two years. The girls belonged to the Koraga community. A complaint lodged with the police by the mother of one of the girls said the duo had even forcibly taken the girls to a nearby forest area on July 2 where they raped them.
Sources of late revealed that the woman had been trying to lodge a complaint against the autorickshaw drivers since the past three months at the Kollur police station, but failed in her endeavour as the inspector suggested her to enter into a compromise with the accused.
In the meantime, the complaint was lodged on July 27, Saturday night after a Dalit leader named Sushil intervened and decided to fight for justice for the Dalit girls.
Investigations are progressing.
