Sullia: An elephant was found dead in Bantodi-Doddakaje of Sampaje reserve forest area.

The elephant, aged about 12 to 13-years-old is suspected to have died after a fight within a herd about three to four days ago. There were bruises on stomach and neck of the elephant.

Since the area is cool and moist, a lot of elephants are said to have migrated to Doddakaje area. Thus, a fight must have broken out within the herd leading to death of this tusker.

The corpse has been sent for post mortem.
