Mangaluru: The bundh called for by the pro-Kannada organisations may have not garnered support in Mangaluru, but the rail roka organised by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Karave) in Mangalore railway station did turn out to be a venue of chaotic altercation when the some Tulunadu supporters (who were not willing to clarify the name of their group) barged and gheraoed the Karave activists.
The Karave members had planned a rail roko in connection to the state-wide bundh seeking solution for Mahadayi issue. As the activists were returning from the protest, some men, who claimed to be Tulunadu support group members gheraoed members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, alleging that their leader from Bengaluru, John, had posted some derogatory comments on Tulunadu and Tuluvas on Facebook.
The Tulunadu activists demanded to know how the Karave members could hold a protest against the Mahadayi issue after their leader insulted the Tuluvas on Facebook. They also questioned the Karave members as to why they were protesting the Mahadayi issue when they did not get involved in the Yettinahole issue. The verbal clash continued for around 15 minutes after which the police had to intervene and disperse both groups.
