Mangaluru: The Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy has chosen three veteran litterateurs for the academy’s 2014 honorary awards and one poet has been chosen for the book award.

President of the academy Janaki Brahmavar announced the names of the winners during a press meet held at the Tulu Bhavan here on Saturday, October 17.

Kanaradi Vadiraj Bhat (64), MK Seetaram Kulal (75) and Ram Shetty (64) have been chosen for their immense contribution to Tulu language, drama, literature and cinema. The award comprises of Rs 10,000 cash, citation and memorabilia.

Meanwhile, Sharada A Anchan from Mumbai has been chosen for the book award for her work ‘Paad’dana’ which is classified under Tulu poetry. The award comprises of Rs 5,000 cash, citation and memorabilia.

The official date for the award ceremony is not yet finalized. However, Janaki said that the ceremony is likely to be held in the first week of December.
