Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders have distributed trident (Trishoola) to activists during the Ayudha Pooja ceremony held at the office of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Kadri in the city on Thursday October 14.
The programme went viral on social networking sites and created a furore with people raisinv objections in this regard. Many netizens even demanded the Police Department to consider the issue, seriously.
Bajrang Dal leader Raghu Sakleshpur, VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell and others participated in the trident distribution ceremony.
Speaking to News Karnataka in this regard Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar has clarified that no official complaint has been filed against VHP for holding a trident distribution ceremony. It is not a new tradition, such ceremonies are held every year in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district, he informed.
