Traders come together to save weekly fair at Kille ground in Puttur

Puttur: ‘Santhe Ulisi’, a traders union demanded that the Monday bazaar be retained at Kille grounds and protested against the move to shift the same to APMC yard on August 19.

Traders led by their union vice president Rajesh Bannur organized a rally and meeting to voice their opinion against the move by the town municipal council. They said, public opinion should have been sought before taking the decision to shift the Monday bazaar from Kille grounds to APMC yard. The sudden move has affected the farmers as well as customers, they opined.

After the meeting the protesters marched on the main roads and finally assembled in front of mini Vidhana Soudha. They shouted slogans against the TMC’s move and submitted a memorandum to the authorities through the assistant commissioner.

The campaign committee leader Ananda, Secretary Nazeer and many other weekly bazaar traders spoke on the occasion where hundreds of traders took part.
