Total financial inclusion prog to be launched in DK on I-Day: DC

Mangalore: Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has directed all the 554 commercial bank branches to initiate the Government of India’s Total Financial Inclusion programme at all taluk and village levels on August 15.

He was presiding over a meeting held at his office on Thursday July 24. The DC directed all commercial banks to implement the programme with the help of the elected representatives of the respective areas.

The DC further informed that the programme will be launched by DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai during the Independence Day celebrations to be held at Nehru Maidan. The survey works will begin on August 7, he further stated.

District Lead Bank Chief Manager Amarnath Hegde, who addressed the meeting, said as per the programme all 4, 39,733 families of the district should have two bank accounts each and that 80 per cent of people already have bank accounts. But the rule makes it mandatory for the couples in all families to have separate bank accounts, he informed.

Tulsa Maddeni, ZP CEO said  those opening bank accounts should also mention their Adhere numbers  and  as per the Union Government orders those opening accounts will get OD facility  of Rs 5000 as per their requirements.
