Mangaluru: Fire engulfed at a rented colony near Agriculture Produces Marketing Corporation (APMC) road in the afternoon of Tuesday at Puttur taluk.

The fire service attendant in a telephone conversation told newskarnataka.com that a tiled house, where people from Tamil Nadu were living, went up in flames. Though there was no exact estimation of loss, attendant said that some daily usage materials were damaged. The reason for the fire, at this juncture is not known.

Earlier, the residents noticing fire called up Puttur town police station. The police in a statement to Newskarnataka told that they informed the fire service department after which it was put off. The residents will register a complaint in the station in some time, police conveyed.
