Moodbidri: After water was suddenly released from the Dam near Soham mini hydel project at Hanneradu Kavalu, Moodbidri three members of a family were swept away; luckily, they were safe here on August 29.

The incident took place on friday when a couple along with their daughter, from Badiadka in Kasargod were enjoying the tourist spot on the banks.

As the water was released, three of them were swept away. They had the presence of mind and courage to hold on to a log in the water and thereby they stopped themselves from being washed away by the force of the water, and with great difficulty managed to reach the banks.

The water-force was brought under control by the dam officials when a localite saw them floating and informed the concerned.

After this incident took place localities are complaining that there are no safety measures nor do they give any warning before releasing water from the dam. They say that the release is unprofessionally managed.
