Bantwal: Two persons were arrested by the Bantwal rural police in connection with illegal transportation of trees here on Wednesday.

The arrested have been identified as Shabeer(22), a resident of Kurnadu and Mohammad Shareef(23) from Boliyar.

Trees worth 2 lakhs along with goods worth 10 lakhs has been seized by the police.

They were arrested near Manihalla Badagandi by Bantwal rural station officer Rakshith and staff when they were heading towards a mill in Melkar from Vogga.

The illegal business was carried on as per the directions given by Abdul Rahman alias Melkar Monu from Melkor who is the third accused in the case.

In the lorry which was used to transport the felled trees, tirve tree logs(a variety of tree) were found.

The arrested were produced in the court. In the operation SI Rakshith Gowda, staff Varghese, Lakshman, Chandrashekhar, Devraj and Suresh were involved.
