Three Ayyappa devotees held for gambling at Moodbidri

Moodbidri: The Moodbidri Police have arrested three persons, reportedly Ayyappa devotees, on the charges of gambling at Puthige here on Friday night.

Based on the tip-off, the police conducted a raid at the gambling din and found several persons including Ayyappa devotees engaged in gambling. While few managed to flee, the police arrested three men and seized several vehicles including a Bolero car, which apparently belonged to the gamblers.

The police gave the names of arrested as Ranjith Kadambailu, Jaya and Ravi Poojary. Badruddin, Dileep from Surathkal and Ravi Poojary from Moodabidri managed to escape, the police said after primary enquiry.

The team led by police inspector Anantha Padmanabha raided the den. The police said that they were tipped many times about the gambling.

A case has been registered in the Moodbidri police station.
