Mangaluru: The police detained three persons involved in a moral policing case at the City Centre mall here on June 26.

Abubakkar Siddiqi (19) of Bantwal, Mohammed Basheer (22) of Adyar Kannur and Irfan M.H. (29) of Jeppu are the arrested.

It may be recalled that on June 26, a group of 15 Muslim youths had assaulted a 30-year-old man outside the City Centre mall for reportedly “misbehaving” with a girl from the community.

The police have registered a case under Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (insult intended to provoke breach of peace), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
