The White Doves Christmas street show unveils the festive season

Mangaluru:  White Doves, an NGO who works to rehabilitate destitutes in society have been making the festive season cheerful around the region by spreading the message of christianity and christmas through plays, song and dance. Now in thier 20th year, they spread the 2014 year old fact through an entertaining mobile act!

The first show of their annual street shows held in Udupi and Mangaluru over 4 days,  titled ‘2014-year-old Fact in a Mobile Act’, was held at the Father Muller College campus on Thursday evening December 11.

The event was combined with the christmas celebrations of the Fr. Muller Institutions, and showcased, a message from the Director of the Institutions Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, and the Bishop of Mangalore who emphasised that Christmas is all about sharing and caring. The Director also unveiled  the 2015 calendar on the occasion. Carols were rendered by Fr. Muller students and staff before the White Doves troupe took over and portrayed the lfe of St. Francis Xavier, and the fact of Jesus’s Birth through action, song and dance.  The play based on the life of St. Francis Xavier was in Kannada, while the carols were in English and the modern freestyle dance rendered by  Nikki and Cyrus was enthralling. Interestingly the The three kings who came to visit the child Jesus came on live camels, replicating history, which fascinated the huge crowd.The highlight of the evening, was the appearance of Santa Claus, twice, once on behalf of Fr. Muller Institutions and the second time at the end, on behalf of White doves.

There were over 135 artistes from varied backgrounds and a wide range of ages from a 40 day old toddler to a 65 year old veteran, who pooled their talents to make the show a grand success and much appreciated by those present.

White Doves, the NGO, currently runs two homes and has 114 inmates, all destitutes picked up from the street and has recently been        sanctioned land by the Bishop to build a permanent institution that will spread the message of christmas, sharing and caring, through action.
