Text books must be prepared in accordance to changing times: Dr Kurien

Moodbidri: Dr Kurien, Principal of Alva’s College has stressed the need to prepare text books in close co-ordination  with the Text Books Directorate, Teachers and Students taking into view the needs of the changing times.

He was speaking after inaugurating a University level workshop  on ‘Vachana, Kavya, Yakshagana Gayana and Vyakhyana’ organised at the Vidagiri Seminar Hall on Saturday August 9 under the auspices of the Alva’s College and  Vikasa, the Mangalore University Kannada Teachers Association.

“The text books  must respond to the needs and aspiration so the student community and   should help in making every class room a  laboratory of good thoughts,” he said.

Ashtavadhani from Karkala Umesh Gowtham Nayak and Dhanya Padyana, presented programmes on Halegannada poetry recitation and  explanation and Gamaka Gayana-Hariharana Ragale respectively.  Noted cartoonist Prof. Nataraj Aralasurali was the resource person for the cartoon analysis session, while Ravichandra Kannadikatte  was the resource person for the Yakshagana  song session.

DS Sridhar and Ademane Udaya Manjunath were also the resource persons.

Prof. Chandrashekhar Gowda, Lecturer. Prof. Krishnamurthi, President of Vikasa, Prakashchandra Shishila, its Secretary and others were present.
