Sullia: A teenager has gone missing from his house and now his family members suspect that the boy has been converted to another religion.
Deekshith (19), son of Janarshan Gowda from Paladka near Arambur in the taluk went missing on September 7 and his family strongly feels that he must have been under influence of a group which converted him.
It is said that he had visited Kerala for four months for some training and on his return his behaviour changed. However, an altercation had broken out after his father spotted him offering namaz one morning. On being confronted, he brushed aside the topic saying he was doing Yoga. On the same day, Deekshith went missing and he had taken only his mobile phone.
As per the family, he had later contacted his mother and said that he was out to search for another job and that he would be back only after he finds a job. One of his phone call was traced to Kerala, due to which the family strongly feels that he has been converted to Islam.
Case has not been registered in connection to this. It is said that Sathish Acharya, a 25-year-old youth from Mandekolu too has been converted to Islam and this had sparked some unrest in the region.
